BACKGROUND;
Corinne Spamers , (born Catharina Cornelia Oosthuizen) was born in 29 November 1953 in Reitz, Orange Free State, South Africa.  She grew up on a farm, finished Grade
10 at Vereeniging High School  and Matriculated in 1971 in Johannesburg High School for Art Ballet and Music where she was enrolled as an art student.
 
STUDIES;
She studies General Nursing and Midwifery at Germiston Nursing College and Vanderbijlpark Hospital, Community Health Nursing at Technicon  Pretoria, Nursing
Administration at Pretoria University and BA Fine Arts at UNISA.  She participated in Art Classes at the Vaal Triangle Technicon as well as private art classes under Spies Venter.
 
FAMILY;
Married from 1975 to 1989 to Pretorius, divorced and married to George Spamers in1993 until present.  She has two daughters and an adopted son.   At present she is living in Three Rivers, Vereeniging and is a Professional Nurse in the Orthopedic Ward.  She enjoys painting at local places like Magic Lawns (the local nursery) and still exhibits from time to time at Shows or Shopping Malls

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
Although she is well known for her Wild Life Art on Genuine Leather, she also enjoys painting portret studies, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes and figure studies.  Her oil paintings are popular but she also does pencil drawings as well as charcoal, water colours and mixed media. Her diversity is also confirmed in decor for theatres, pottery and sculpture.  She has sold numerous paintings to overseas clients from USA, UK, Europe, Australia, etc. Her first solo exhibition was in 1987 and since then she had more than a hundred solo exhibitions at places like KKNK in Oudtshoorn, Aardklop in Potchefstroom, Gariepfees in Kimberley, Inniebos in Nelspruit, Boertjiefees in Bultfontein, Decorex, Big Shot Show. Rand Easter Show, Home Makers Fair and many other shows like Windhoek, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, etc. 
 
At present she prefers exhibiting at Shopping  Malls like the Vaal Mall and the  River Square Mall in the Vaal Triangle or the Centurion Mall. Some of the numerous awards she has achieved in art are First and Special Merit Awards from the ATKV as well as an Award for the Promotion of Art also from the ATKV. As part of her active lifestyle she runs her art gallery and art studio at home with the help of her husband, George, who is responsible for the framing.  Due to her ability to create very lively and realistic portretstudies she is always busy and popular with commissions for families.  She loves painting oil paintings or acrylics but enjoys mixed media, charcoal, etc.
